I keep a tube of this with my makeup and one in my purse. Another review said the color she got was red. I have been using this shade for a few years and it has never been red. It is a deep blush, tending toward slightly pink. Not dark at all, not red at all. Just enough coverage and pigment to last for hours, plus the moisture factor is perfect. It has never caused my lips to chap and although it is not shiny, it is definitely not matte. It has just a nice natural looking gloss. Sometimes I also use it on my cheeks for a bit of color there. I have ash brown hair with a touch of gray at the sides.
